Power Probe Kit

A power probe is an advanced automotive diagnostic tool used by technicians to test, trace, and troubleshoot vehicle electrical circuits. Unlike a standard digital multimeter, which can only passively measure electrical values, a power probe can actively supply battery power (+12V or +24V) or ground directly through its tip to dynamic components like motors, lights, relays, and fuel pumps. This capability allows users to test component functionality immediately without running tedious jumper wires.
Core Functions and Capabilities
* Component Activation: Sends positive voltage or ground straight from the vehicle's battery to manually power up electrical parts and verify if they are functional.
* Instant Voltmeter readings: Displays live DC voltage readings at the probe tip on a digital screen, serving as a quick-response voltmeter.
* Polarity Testing: Uses immediate visual indicators (typically a red light for positive voltage and a green light for ground) accompanied by distinct audio tones to identify wire polarity without looking at a screen.
* Continuity Testing: Verifies open circuits, short circuits, and stable ground connections using an integrated auxiliary ground lead.
Key Safety and Convenience Features
* Built-In Circuit Breaker: Features an automatic or thermal reset circuit breaker (typically 8A to 10A) that instantly trips if you accidentally apply power to a direct ground, preventing vehicle wiring damage or tool burnout.
* Extended Reach Cable: Equipped with a long power lead that clamps straight to the car battery, allowing a mechanic to easily reach from the front bumper to the rear taillights.
* Integrated Work Lights: Features built-in dual LED headlights to illuminate dark workspaces underneath dashboards, steering columns, and deep engine bays.
